Grassroots Rice IPA | ABV:%, IBU:

Collab brew with Montavilla Farmers Market!

This collaboration has been nine years in the making and we’re stoked to finally present Grassroots Rice IPA! We teamed up with our good friends & neighbors at the Montavilla Farmers Market and brewed a brand-new west coast Rice IPA. Okay, what’s a “Rice IPA”, you ask? While it’s very common to find rice as an ingredient in light lager beers, we wanted to create an IPA that is very drinkable, light in body & bitterness with a dry finish. (Rice adds little to no flavor, but it sure makes this IPA clean and crispy!)

About the beer: with a simple malt bill of German pilsner malt and flaked rice, the hops really get to shine in this beauty. Grassroots is dry-hopped with Vista and Strata hops (think tangerine, melon, pears, passionfruit, strawberry, grapefruit and a touch of dank cannabis). 6.5% ABV

About the collaboration: the Montavilla Farmers Market has been an institution in the Montavilla neighborhood since 2007 and started as a ‘grassroots’ operation by neighborhood volunteers. The market has grown steadily over the years into one of the best farmers markets in Portland and is right across the street from MBW. Fun fact: head brewer Michael used to brew and sample beers on Sundays during the market before MBW opened it’s doors in 2015. Those Sundays were the first opportunities for the Montavilla neighborhood to taste beer that would eventually come out of the area’s first brewery.

GRASSROOTS RICE IPA is available NOW on tap and in cans at MBW and fine retailers in and around Portland!
